Last fall, Lori Meyer, who has been an active member and leader across all levels and many communities in STC including our own Florida Chapter, celebrated 40 years of STC membership! To do so, she hosted a Zoom meeting on November 20th, 2024 where she shared an informal presentation on her membership journey in STC over the years and gathered members from across the Society to gather and celebrate this significant personal milestone.
When announcing her membership anniversary and the subsequent online gathering, Lori wrote:
“On November 5, 1984, I joined STC (and the Rochester, NY chapter). Time flies—it’s hard to believe that was 40 years ago! […] In many ways, it’s a nearly miraculous milestone. During those years, I’ve had lots of career ups and downs, a cross-country relocation, and two life-threatening illnesses — but I was an STC member through it all! I’m grateful for that and the opportunity to learn and serve our profession with you. You have all been my teachers along the way.”
All leaders and members of the communities Lori had been a member of over the years and board members she served with are part of her STC journey were welcome to attend. These include:
- SIGs (COPs and COIs): All (a benefit of being a Gold member!)
- Chapters: Rochester, Central New York, Philadelphia Metro, Washington DC/Baltimore, Carolina, Florida, North Texas Lone Star, South Central Texas, Southern California, San Francisco Bay, Puget Sound, Ohio, Chicago, Atlanta
- Board: 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025 board members; Current Nominating committee members and nominating committee members from 2022-2023 and 2023-2024
