Debra Johnson

Many of you know Debra for her many years of service to our chapter. She’s served as a chapter leader, mentor, and valued resource for members and visitors alike. For this member spotlight, I wanted to share a few things about Debra!
She’s Our Chapter President
Debra is serving for the 2020-2021 year as our STC Florida Chapter President! Since becoming a member in 2010, she has held multiple offices and roles in the chapter. In her service to STC, Debra served on the Society’s 65th Anniversary Summit Committee and attended five Summits. She has presented at Washlines, organized 26 monthly chapter programs, and joined with other key members of the chapter to transform the Orlando local chapter into an increasingly successful virtual chapter across Florida and other states.
She Has a New Job
She has over 26 years of experience managing the creation, delivery, governance, and curation of useful, usable, and appropriate user content. This year, Debra took her skills to Cisco as a Change Management lead. There she uses her expertise as a member of the Change Management team in Portfolio Transactability within Cisco’s Customer Experience Digital Transformation group.
She’s an STC Associate Fellow!
The Society Associate Fellow honor recognizes members for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the arts and science of technical communication, and for sustained and significant service to STC. This year, Debra joined the ranks of other outstanding STC members:
“for significant contributions to, promotion of, and innovation in the profession; love for its practitioners and students; and distinguished service as an STC and industry leader.”
