Thank you to everyone who participated—either as a presenter or attendee—at our August Washlines meeting. It was a huge success. This month we have a couple of new items for you. Patricia Cruz has ably assembled a 2012 State of the Chapter Survey to solicit demographic data, professional data, and program requests from our members and non-member attendees. The Survey can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/8afl4s3. If you haven’t already, please take the survey and let your voice be heard. Orlando Central Florida STC Chapter is your chapter, and your views and requests matter! We cannot implement them without your input, so please take the survey. The survey is open to members and non-members who are interested in our programs, but if you’re a member, you can also earn an Active Member point by participating.
Speaking of Active Member points: Don’t forget that each participating activity—meeting attendance, committee membership, program presentation—earns you points that can put you in line for one of our coveted Active Member shirts, awarded each June at our end-of-year banquet. It’s easier than you think to earn one of these shirts. All you have to do is 1) be a chapter member, and 2) accumulate enough points by your participation. If you have any questions about this program, please contact WC Wiese (activemembership@stc-orlando.org).
You may recall that in past messages I’ve mentioned that the Orlando Central Florida STC Chapter is holding networking get-togethers in various non–Central Orlando locations. So far we’ve met in Brevard County and in Lake Mary. Both of these events were lots of fun and provided a great opportunity for technical communicators—both STC members and non-members—to meet and greet in an informal setting. I’m glad to announce that we’ll be holding another such event in the South area (location TBA) during the month of October. Watch your e-mail and our next Memo to Members issue for more information. And if you’re not already subscribed to the Orlando Central Florida STC Chapter announcements list (you don’t have to be a member to subscribe), contact Erika Higgins, chapter Communications Manager (listservmgr@stc-orlando.org), and ask to be subscribed.
We have an exciting program planned for you Tuesday, September 18, 2012, 6:30pm at the Winter Park Civic Center. Our own vice-president, Debra Johnson, is the presenter. Hope to see you there!
